Reanna – First Digital

Reanna – First Digital
Reanna, 2011 — one of my first digital portraits after transitioning from film. Shot with a Nikon D300S.

This was one of the first photo sessions I shot digitally — back when I was still figuring out if I even wanted to switch. Up to this point, everything I did was on film. The camera was a Nikon D300S, and the sensor had that distinct grain I didn’t know I actually liked until later.

Reanna made this frame work. Simple lighting, direct gaze, nothing between the lens and the moment.

Camera: Nikon D300S

Lens: Nikkor 50mm f/1.8

Exposure: 1/160 sec @ f/2.8

ISO: 800

Light: One softbox, camera left — dark backdrop and floor

Processed as black and white, tuned for contrast. Still one of my favorite early digital frames.
